Scouts BSA Clinton Boy Troop 142
WELCOME to the home of Clinton’s Scouts BSA Boy Troop 1142 Clinton, IL
BSA Troop 142 exists to serve youth by instilling values, preparing them to make ethical choices over their lifetime and to enable them to achieve their full potential. We accomplish this by working toward three aims – participating citizenship; moral strength and character; and development of physical, mental and emotional fitness.
Our values are based upon the Scout Oath and Law.
Troop 142 has prided itself on being a member of the Clinton, IL community for more than three decades. In those decades, many things have changed but many have not. We do find ourselves being called by our newer number Troop 1142 at times, but tradition holds us to Troop 142, so if you hear either, rest assured as we go by both.
We currently have a very active group of young men and many leaders. The troop participates in the Christmas Parade, Memorial Day Services, AmVets Flag Services, Canned Food Drive, Adopt-A-Highway, and other various community service projects.
For the past few years we have been involved in a massive project at Weldon Springs State Park where we are working on restoring Black Locust Campground to its former glory — home to many Scout, YMCA, youth groups and other activities back in the late 20th century.
Troop 142 is very active in the outdoors, camping about once a month year-round. Outdoor hiking, fishing, wilderness skills, first aid, pioneering, orienteering, and many other skills are taught by older Scouts and Scouters during our events.
The troop is an active ‘Scout’ led program supervised by ‘Scouters’, some of whom were once Scouts in the troop prior to becoming adult leaders.
We always entertain new membership please contact us!
